Painkiller: Heaven’s Got A Hitman
“I’ve killed so many, but they keep coming. It doesn’t stop, horde after horde relentlessly attack. Each falling by my hand, their blood and viscera caking the walls and floors of this god-forsaken place. Where is God? Forsaking me to this den of despair. Alone. One thing fills my mind, the desire for revenge. If God won’t take me willingly, I’m gonna kick the fucking gates of heaven wide open, and let myself in”
In 2004, the team at People Can Fly released their masterpiece upon the world.
Painkiller was released to an unsuspecting gaming population choking to death on endless FPS sequels and shitty generic WW2 shooters.…

Mass Effect 3: Ending – Warning Contains Spoilers
“Standing on the precipice, body broken and drained, each step is agony. Three choices await me, choices no single person could ever make. I pause, my mind races, so many fallen comrades, so many dead, a perpetual cycle of destruction. Organics, doomed to repeat the same mistakes forever , an unending system of chaos, a snake biting its own tail. I am filled with grief, distraught at my newfound knowledge. Too much for any anyone to take in. Control, Symbiosis or the freedom of a new technological dark age?
The Reapers have taken so much, their destructive power is too much to control, I see that now.…

Double Fine Adventure: Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert Discuss Adventure Games
As you’re probably aware, Double Fine have created what is now the most successful Kickstarter campaign ever. They’re going to be making an old school adventure game!
As we’ve discussed on the podcast before, adventure games kind of dropped off the map for a long time and are now almost a speciality commodity. Tim Scafer and Ron Gilbert are well aware of this, and they have make a video interview where they discuss exactly this, as well as what they think makes a great adventure games, their favourite game moments, and a whole load of other fascinating topics.
One of the most interesting points discussed is whether people actually love adventure games or do they just love the nostalgia and their memories of those games.…

Battlefield 3 – Multiplayer at its finest.
I dive behind cover as the wall above me shatters into a million tiny fragments, the shrill whizzing sound of bullets rushing past my head overloads my senses. The noise of war, loud and uncompromising, further adding to the confusion of an already chaotic battle.
I call for support from my squad mates and they start returning fire over the bridge, I scramble along the ground, my pace agonisingly slow. With the enemy momentarily suppressed I scramble to my feet and attempt to move to the closest building. Before I have reached the doorway a deafening explosion erupts beside me as I am thrown clear, the MI-28 screams overhead unloading more ordinance, covered in debris I lay prone, catching my breath.…

Kratos is a fucking maniac…
After spending the day shooting a zombie advertisment, some of the boys and I wondered outside for a cigarette. A few minutes later we’d quickly filmed this little ditty for some improv fun. Audio is bad, and we really didn’t get any coverage, but boy was it fun.

Wheatley Puppet!
DeviantArt user ~TRP-Chan has created what is probably the coolest thing I’ll see today – a badass puppet of Wheatley from Portal 2. Complete with light up eye and samples from the game, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes me wish I could build things without seriously injuring myself.
You read more about it and even check out how it was made on ~TRP-Chan’s deviantArt page here.…

There will be no Duke Nukem Forever review… for a while
I had planned on reviewing Duke Nukem Forever. I was actually really excited about it, finally I would be able to write a review of this game that we’ve been waiting 13 odd years for. But after playing it a bit… I don’t think I’m going to bother finishing it. Therefore I don’t feel comfortable writing something I would call a “review”. With so many other games that I really want to play and the limited time I have to play them, Duke has to drop off the list for now. However I do want to share some thoughts, so here goes.…

Say hello to the new FemShep
Bioware recently presented six “Female Shepards” and asked fans to “Like” their favourite. The winner will be the new default character model for the female Shepard in Mass Effect 3, and will also appear on the box art.
May I present to you the winner, your new FemShep:
As you can see it appears that Mass Effect fans prefer blondes.
However there have already been complaints made that the fan base is obviously predominantly young males, and the final result reflects that. Some female fans have stated that they would prefer a more “realistic” representation of a person like Shepard, someone a bit tougher looking I guess.…

Portal 2 Review
Portal 2 had a lot to live up to, what with the original being so freaking awesome and all. The story picks up where the first game left off, sort of. Originally, when Portal first came out, Chell escaped at the end and it faded to white, but later Valve adjusted the ending, adding an addition cutscene which showed her being dragged back to the facility by a robot. Having never seen the revised ending I was pretty confused at first as to why I was back inside Aperture, and I had check online to figure out what I’d missed.
You are greeted by a personality construct (those talking spheres from the first game) called Wheatley, who helps you escape from your room and head off to escape the facility, again.…
